In 2015, Will Parker, the director at the time, organized a community Veterans Day Concert to be held every year. Members of the community, veterans, and local residents regularly attend this event as it highlights the heros within our community.

The Straughn High School Concert Band has a rich history of Superior scores at the annual Music Performance Assessment. the history of excellence stretches all the way back to Band Director Tony Pike (1980-1986).

The Straughn High School Concert Band serves to enrich the lives of our students through music, teamwork, discipline, and creativity. Our band provides students with meaningful experiences that build confidence, responsibility, and a lasting appreciation for the arts.

Music education should extend beyond the classroom. Our band serves as a bridge between our school and the community, giving students opportunities to represent their families, school, and community with pride.

The goal is simple: to give our students a place to grow, a reason to belong, and a way to share their talents with the people around them.
